Sport Hall 2008 - 2009

 

UNDER 11 (Years 5 & 6) SPORTSHALL 2008!

·  The Competition Manager Team are inviting all middle schools (+ primaries in Cramlington) to deliver a programme of Sportshall type activities to all Year 6 pupils during September and early October.

·  From the heats the best girls and boys will be selected to represent their partnership in the Northumberland County Final (hopefully with an SSCo as manager). Teams are made up of 15 girls and 15 boys (+ reserves).

·  From this final the best performers will be selected to represent Northumberland in the Regional Fun event.

Dates:

     Heat 1 – Wed. 1st October, at Lindisfarne Sports Centre, Alnwick, 12.30 – 3.00 p.m. 

     Heat 2 – Fri. 10th October, at Concordia Sports Centre, Cramlington, 12.30 – 3.00 p.m.

     Heat 3 – Wed. 15th October, at Riverside Sports Centre, Morpeth, 12.30 – 3.00 p.m.

     Heat 4 – Wed 22nd October, at Wentworth, Hexham, 12.30 – 3.00 p.m.

    County Final – Thur. 13th November, at Willowburn Leisure Centre, Alnwick, 12.30 – 3.00 p.m.     

    Regional Fun Festival – Saturday 22nd November at Seaburn Centre, Sunderland

UNDER 13 (Years 7 & 8) SPORTSHALL 2008!
      

·  All Middle Schools (secondary schools in Cramlington) are invited to take

     part in intra school SportsHall activities “set” by the CM team. This can take  place after the Autumn half term and will need to be completed by Christmas.

·  Results will be recorded on a data base and individual/school/partnership statistics will be created to find high performers. Area Finals will take place in w/c 12th January (12 girls and 12 boys)

·   Strongest individuals and schools will be invited to compete in the Northumberland Under 13 County Final to be held in the w/c 2nd February 2009.

·   A Northumberland County squad will then be selected to represent the county at the Regional Finals in Sunderland on 21st February (and, if they qualify, go on to the Nationals in March).

·   Training for county squad members will be arranged prior to Regionals.

UNDER 15 (Years 9 & 10) SPORTSHALL 2008!

   ·   Northumberland has usually entered a team into the Regional Event. This team has been chosen

      solely from athletics club members.

   ·  This year we are hoping to encourage all clubs to put athletes forward for selection AND we are

      inviting schools (High Schools and Secondary) to nominate athletes too.

   ·  These individuals will compete in the Under 15 County Final to be held in w/c 2nd February  

      2009 and a squad will be chosen to represent Northumberland in the Regional Finals in

      Sunderland on 21st February.

   ·  Teams comprise 3 girls and 3 boys.

 

 

Northumberland Disability Athletics Taster Day

Prior to this years DSE Junior Regional Athletic Championship to be held at Gateshead International Stadium Northumberland will be hosting an "Athletics Taster Day" on the 27th March 2008 at Wentworth Leisure Centre for ages 12 - 20 yrs.

The Taster Day is designed to allow the athletes a chance to try out some of the event with coaches prior to attending the Championships.  It is also a chance for us to identify those athletes who show protenial and may benefit from further coaching sessions.
